Fall Music Concert

On Tuesday, October 25th, the BCCHS Music Department performed its annual fall concert, known as “Collage”. This concert gave students the opportunity to showcase the music they have been working on since the beginning of the school year. Students could also perform a piece of music that they were working on separately from the group.

This year, the concert was combined with musicians from the University of Mary Music Department. The Central band and choir performed one song each with the college band and choir. Junior Lucy Meling, a member of the BCCHS Choir, stated, “It was cool to sing with people who have better intonation and hear us adjust to that. It was also cool how even though we didn’t know each other, the music connected us”. The university band and choir also individually performed music that they have been working on.

The Billings Central band, choir, and orchestra each performed four pieces of music. Billings Central Music teacher Brandon Martinez explained how he thought the concert went this year, saying, “I think the concert was too long, but I don’t want to miss an opportunity for the high school groups to perform with the college groups. That aspect was fantastic.” He also talked about having the University of Mary perform with Billings Central. “I felt that it was good in both ways, performing with them and being able to listen to them. I think it gave a better appreciation of our students to hear what a good college group sounds like,” he said.

Overall, the concert was very successful and was a great opportunity for students, family, and friends to listen to two different music programs perform.
