TWIRP HAIRCUT GONE WRONG?!

The Central football team’s state championship tradition.

Botched haircuts, a Central High football tradition, are a TWIRP couple’s biggest fear. If high school couples were on the brink of breaking up, this week was the last straw. Dates were no longer worrying if their outfits would match but were instead anxious if their date would look like Mr. Clean. Various haircut styles ranging from a mullet to a horizontal mohawk meant distractions were at an all-time high. Choosing to focus on the teacher’s lecture or the platinum blonde buzzcut proved to be a constant battle for students (and so was staying a couple). The confidence it took to rock a grotesque haircut was admirable; although TWIRP dates might not have approved, the student body loved it. Upperclassmen have traditionally taken turns giving freshmen players atrocious haircuts in preparation for the state championship. The last time the Rams made it to the state championship was in 2020. This year, Central High put up a fight against the Lewiston Golden Eagles.

The Rams took second to Lewistown in the 2022 State Championship, trailing 7-0 in the first quarter. With 48 seconds left in the second quarter, Adam Balkenbush passed to Brayden Flores, who scored a touchdown that left the Rams behind 21-7. When the half opened, Hunter Doyle received a pass from Balkenbush and scored, which closed the gap 21-14, Lewistown still ahead. The Third Quarter ended with Lewistown leading 27-14. The Rams took second with a final score of 34-14, while Lewistown won the Class A title.
