The results are in for the 2022 Annual Dodgeball Tournament at Billings Central Catholic High School!

This year’s teams showed up with a high amount of enthusiasm, all dressing out in their individual uniforms. “The Throwbacks,” a clever name for the team that included BCCHS teachers including, Nolan Trafton, Kristin Kulaga, Shane Fairbanks, Krista Cunningham, Nick Mack, Branden Martinez, Father John Pankratz, Olivia Umphry, and Dusty Reno. They started strong with a complete, coordinated warmup routine and retro outfits.

The sophomore boys made a team this year that included everyone you would typically see in the weight room or gym after school. They called themselves “The Big Baller Club” or “BBC” for short, according to Chase Wise, one of the team members. Along with Chase, these boys included Russell Johnson, Cole Bland, Daniel Apostol, Jack Debourg, Vinnie Souza, and Sam Jagodzinski. Every teammate sported a black tank top, and they made sure to show off their pumps by lifting between games in the weight room.

A team of upperclassmen girls showed up to the gym in Christmas Sweaters, very in season. They went by the name of “All dodge, no balls.” The girls on this team included GG Hastings, Coral OldBull, Lyssa Peterson, Ally Foster, Tatum Brocopp, Lily Bland, Lauren Dull, and Jessa Larson. Lyssa Peterson deserves an honorable mention for being the last on the court to get out for two of the games played.

“All Dodge No Balls”

A large friend group of boys from various grades joined together to form the “Goobers.”This group included Jacob Jewett, Levi Jensen, Bridger Mathes, Jonah Erramouspe, and Cody Hofer, Matteo Balajadia, Keagan Reese, and Patrick Hermanson. The members of this team sported pajama pants, all looking like they just woke up, but they proved to still have had their heads in the game.

A team of junior boys banded together this year to create their team, “Good Nuff.” They would have fit right in with the Hawaiian tourist crowd. All dressed in tropical button-ups and khaki shorts, the team consisted of Aidan Molloy, Trystyn Hope, John Pender, Kellan Mcclintock, Jacob Burmeister, Aidan O’Neill, David Ramshaw, and Mathew Rah.

A team of foreign exchange students signed up and named themselves “The Big Cajones.” This team was made up of Max Mai, Chris Hastings, Teo Penha, Gabriele Giamattei, Filippo Caparaso, Arthur Zanatta, and Bowman Seitz. They all wore jersey to show the soccer teams they were rooting for.

The Y ball team made a dodgeball team for themselves and they did not disappoint. They came up with the name “Fully Loaded.” They wore their own jerseys that had their nicknames on the back. This team had Logan Hughes, Alex Walter, Preston Hubley, Trafton Ford, Tace Dahlberg, Blake Harlan, Jake Kovaks, Hunter Doyle, Clay Oven, Mathew Newbury, and Conroy Schmitt.

The “Landon’s team” was put together at the last minute, the reason for its name. Although, the team still managed to match wearing all black, or at least there was an attempt. Landon’s team was made up of freshmen and included Evan Harrell, Jordan Harrell, Howie Martin, Brennan Harlan, Ayden Salter, Garrett Oven, Will Snell, Blake Stillstead, and of course, Landon Hughes.

Last but most certainly not least, was the team named, “Not On The Face.” This group of boys came back this year to win two years in a row in the dodgeball tournament. This winning team was made up of Kyler Northrop, Seth Benge, Adam Balkenbush, Xavier Brackenridge, Jaden Sanchez, Cade McMinn, Brayden Flores, Cade Boyd, Travis Hadley, and Aiden Sorenson. To celebrate their win, the team took off their matching black shirts to show that underneath was writing that said, “back 2 back.”
