On October 22, 2022, freshman Greyson Piseno was the first cross country State title winner for Billings Central High School since Matt Winter in 2002. Piseno won first place in the class A boy’s cross country race with an outstanding time of 16 minutes and 16 seconds. Piseno said the best part of cross country was “the environment. “We are all like a family, and it’s really nice,” he said. Piseno started running because his grandparents said that he would be good at it and that he had a good runner’s build. When Piseno is older, he says he would like to do something running-affiliated, such as a working physical therapist, trainer, or coach. He also aspires to be a great runner with a sponsorship from Nike or Body Armor. Piseno’s biggest idol is Eliud Kipchoge, the marathon world record holder from Kenya. The farthest that Piseno has ever run is about 10 miles. During the off-season, Piseno runs, swims, and works out. Overall, Piseno is a great athlete that surely has wonderful things ahead of him.
