On September 10th, 2023, all four grades at Billings Central gathered in their corresponding hallways to decorate for homecoming week. Members of the BCCHS student council had gathered the previous week to discuss their decorations and select each grade’s leaders. The freshmen’s hallway was themed “Balloons,” the sophomores’ “Green Out,” the juniors’ “Lights,” and the seniors’ “Black Out.” On the night of the 10th, students brought their previously-purchased decorations and worked on their halls from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
“Despite there only being about 5 people in junior hall, we made it work, and it turned out better than we thought it would,” said junior Emirie Hastings. The juniors used green LED lights and Christmas lights from previous years to line their hall. They spent none of their $150 budget.
In contrast to the juniors’ limited participation, the sophomores had many people show up. “It went very well, and it was nice that so many people came to help!” said sophomore Sam Winchell. To execute their theme, they covered the lights in their hallway with green tablecloths. Overall, the student council was satisfied with how the students executed their themes and how organized they were with their own planning.
