The state cross country races were very interesting experiences for many runners this year. They were held at Rebecca’s Farm in Kalispell and consisted of two laps around and over a hill. There were many ups and downs during the races. Jacob Burmeister, John Pender, and Trystyn Hope all achieved personal records during their race. Greyson Piseno earned third place overall, and Shayla Brittain broke a school record. “It makes you work harder for next time when you don’t get the results that you want,” said sophomore cross country runner Greyson Piseno.
Sophomore Shayla Brittain said, “With how many runners you compete against at state, it tests your mental strength and how you can get to the front fast and keep a lead.” The runners say they bonded as teammates and became a community through the sport. The cross country team held their banquet recently where runners received awards and letters.
