Hungry during those long school days? Well, relief is here! Thanks to the creative initiative of music teacher Brandon Martinez your cravings are about to be satisfied without the need to walk all the way to the Holiday gas station across the street!
“It all started with an open mic night,” shared Martinez. “I thought, ‘why not add some snacks to the mix?’ Everyone loves a good snack while enjoying some live entertainment.”
However, it’s not just about satisfying hunger; it’s for a good cause. “Music in the Parks is a big deal for us, but it comes with a hefty price tag,” explained Martinez, referring to the annual spring trip that members of the music department take to either Denver, Salt Lake, or Coeur d’Alene to be adjudicated, have fun, and experience various activities. “I’m hoping to use the funds from the concession stand to support scholarships for students who need it or to keep the costs down for future events.”
What does this new stand offer? “I wanted to keep things affordable, so we’ve got some budget-friendly options like Shasta and off-brand sparkling waters,” revealed Martinez. “Plus, we offer other classic favorites like popcorn and chips.”
But why stop at just one event? The concession stand is here to stay! “We officially opened during the last open mic night, and now we’re open every day at lunch,” announced Martinez.
