The Billings Central boys’ and girls’ golf teams capped off an incredible season with strong showings at both divisional and state tournaments. The girls’ team triumphed, securing first place at both, while the boys’ team finished an impressive second in both competitions.
Leading up to the state tournament, the excitement and nerves were palpable. “The golfers are nervous, but they’re excited they get the opportunity to play at state,” said team manager Evan Miller, a senior at Billing Central. The pressure was on, but the Rams handled it with the resilience they’ve shown all season.
The girls’ team fought hard against tough weather conditions to claim the state title. Senior golfer Anna Prill reflected on the team’s performance: “The team is very happy that we pulled through, despite the conditions. I am very excited for Kiya, and how she finished at state,” Prill said, praising her teammate Kiya Ford for her standout performance.
Meanwhile, the boys’ team also had an outstanding season, finishing second at both divisionals and state. Under the leadership of Tony Derrig, the boys displayed consistency and determination, with strong performances across the board.
Both teams’ achievements reflect the hard work and camaraderie developed throughout the season. The Rams have a bright future ahead, with several younger golfers showing promise. Billings Central golf has once again proven its place as a top competitor in Montana, and both teams have much to celebrate after their remarkable seasons.
