Halfway through their season and divisional tournament, with state is right around the corner, the softball team had grown into their mold. This year many incoming freshman joined softball, so the softball team was able to make a JV and varsity team. The varsity has won five and lost four, with two of those losses being to Laurel and the others to Fergus and Senior. They have beaten Havre, Livingston and East Helena once, and Hardin twice. The JV girls are 4-2, losing twice to Laurel. The dynamics of the team is different when asked about it, senior Madeline Prill said, “With there being more people this year on the team, the environment is very fun and positive.” With so many new people on the team, the BCCHS softball team is still having fun every practice.
Halfway through their season, the track team had competed in seven meets thus far; the first meet was the Laurel opener which took place on Friday, March 28, 2025. Central girls took fourth out of eight teams, and Central boys took fifth out of eight teams. While second meet was supposed to be in Lewistown at Fergus High School, but it was canceled. The third meet was at Lockwood High School on Saturday, April 5, Central girls took sixth out of ten teams, and the boys took second out of ten teams. The fourth meet was on Tuesday April 12, the girls took third out of five teams, and the boys took second out of six teams. The fifth meet was the Billings invite which took place on Saturday April 2, at Lockwood High School. The girls ended up taking twelfth out of seventeen teams and the boys took ninth out of eighteen. The sixth meet was the Billings Central Invite which took place on Tuesday April 15, at West High School. Those results are not posted yet. The seventh meet was on Tuesday April 22, and it was the Gold Strike Invitational at Laurel High School. Those results have not been posted.
Central’s tennis team lost many seniors last year and are still figuring out who works best together for the lineup. The team environment is better this year than last year, senior Brenda Twichel said, “The dynamics of the team is better this year in my opinion, everyone seems very connected especially between the boys and girl’s teams.” The boys team also lost a few key players, junior Alex Johnson says, “Although the boys’ team lost many players from last year, we’ve started to really find our place as a team this year.” With there being seven meets, things have really started coming together for the boy’s tennis team. “I think the big difference between the start of the year and now is that this year pretty much everyone is playing a position we hadn’t before, and we’re getting used to it now. We’ve also had meets, especially overnight meets, which have really helped us blend as a team,” Alex Johnson says. The tennis team, midway through their season was growing as a team and as players.
Baseball is new to Central this year with a pretty good start, going 6-3. They have beaten Columbus, Sidney, Laurel, Park, Huntley, and Senior. They lost to West, and Skyview twice. Since baseball is new, the team struggled with team chemistry. Sophomore Oliver Prill says, “I think at the start of the season, there was a sense of unfamiliarity between our team, and we didn’t have the best team chemistry.” As the season progressed, things started to click. “We have definitely grown as a team, and it can definitely be shown by the way we have been playing,” Oliver Prill states. The confidence of this baseball team is still growing, and the team’s chemistry is growing stronger.
