Each spring, high schools across Billings compete in the Master Lube Mural Contest, and this year, Billings Central didn’t just show up—they made a statement. With paint-streaked clothes, sunburned shoulders, and a few unexpected injuries, the Rams turned a blank wall into a vibrant mural that proudly represents their senior class.
Led by senior Anna Kim, who designed the art for the wall, the mural crew dove into the project with creativity and collaboration. “I was nervous at first,” Anna said. “I wasn’t sure we’d finish in time, but everyone showed up and chipped in. I’m so grateful.”
That teamwork didn’t come without a few hiccups. Kylie Poling fell off a ladder and “injured her weenus” (yes, her elbow), while Ellis Tillery incurred a minor concussion. But spirits stayed high. “We had a couple casualties—my weenus and Ellis’ brain—but it was all worth it in the end,” Kylie joked.
Once the mural was complete, seniors returned to Master Lube on May 10th for a car wash and oil change fundraiser to support Ram Jam, the senior alcohol-free graduation party. Students washed cars, held donation signs on street corners, and dried down vehicles under the warm May sun.

Lydia Todd, a senior who worked at the event, shared, “I’d never been to Master Lube before, but I worked from 12 to 3:30 with Izzy. We stood on the street corner getting donations from cars and helped dry them off, too. We made about $50 in an hour from generous donors—it was actually a lot more fun than I expected, and it was a great way to spend time with my friends before we graduate.”
Although Central didn’t take home first place this year, the real win was the memories the artists made along the way. From bruised elbows to heartfelt moments, the mural project brought the Class of 2025 together in a way they’ll never forget.
