HOSA Immersion Day

Students dive into the healthcare industry at Billings Clinic.

Students had an immersive learning experience on March 27 when they got the chance to visit Billings Clinic through HOSA. HOSA Future Health Professionals is a club which helps students who are interested in the medical field explore their interests and achieve their goals. At the immersion day, students split into groups; they visited the sim lab for hands-on experiences like suturing, performing intramuscular injections, and practicing ultrasounds. Later, they went through clinical rotations, exploring surgeries and hospital sections while talking with staff to gain insights. From prostate removals to foot surgeries, ICU tours, and even hysterectomies, there was no shortage of procedures to observe.

Will Zink, a junior at Billings Central, summed it up by saying,”It was really interesting. I saw some stuff that was mesmerizingly disgusting.” Brianna Brandon, another HOSA member, chimed in, “I loved how hands-on the sim lab was: from delivering babies to suturing—it was super engaging.” HOSA has given students who have an interest in healthcare an opportunity to explore their interests, and the immersion day is one of the best chances to do just that!
