Started by Billings Catholic Schools’ President Andrew McDonald, a new school podcast called “Rooted” has recently emerged. The podcast is aimed at highlighting the work of BCCHS teachers and other going-ons at the Catholic Schools. This includes events happening within our school, getting information to parents, and sharing different stories about Billings Central. “There’s a legacy here so reaching that audience is awesome. If people outside the system stumble on it and start listening, great,” McDonald said. “It started as this simple thing to just share updates, and it’s turned into this really cool medium for communicating the awesome work and celebrating the stories that make us who we are.”

The idea for “Rooted” started out as a joke. During a school board meeting, it was mentioned that people were not reading the emails being sent out. “We decided we’d try something new and podcasts got thrown out, and then we didn’t really take it very seriously at first, and then it came to fruition,” McDonald noted. They ultimately decided that a podcast was the way to go, being able to relay information in a new way and also telling stories.
McDonald would also like to mention, “If people have great ideas for a podcast episode, if somebody thinks of a cool story to highlight, reach out and let me know.”
“Rooted” is a wonderful podcast and a fantastic way to learn more about what happens here at the Billings Catholic Schools. “Rooted” is available to listen on any streaming platform. Listening allows students to learn more about our school and support Central.
