Central is pursuing a new way of communicating with students. Starting the school year, the administration continued its use of SchoolMessenger which sent SMS text messages to students. Recently, however, this was switched to using the BAND App. .

Hoping for a more effective way to communicate, Principal Nolan Trafton said “We previously used School Messenger. But that was not always successful in delivering text messages because some students’ cell phones did not enable that.” He also mentioned that BAND could be installed on the iPads which also ensured every student had access to messaging.
Dean of Students Austin Hanser noticed some of the problems with the system, and talked with Trafton about it. They had the idea to use BAND instead of SMS messaging. Trafton remarked “I’m a little embarrassed that we hadn’t thought of it sooner.”
Hanser also explained “It (BAND) is approved through our district under our ED Law type category, and that it is safe and appropriate to use for student communication.” After this, they decided to create the BAND account around October 8th. Both Trafton and Hanser also mentioned that one of the reasons they chose BAND was because many clubs and teams were already using the app. This would make the transition easier for everyone.”
BAND is an excellent tool that we now get to use within the school, so please make sure that you have it downloaded and are signed in. If you are having trouble finding it, there are QR-codes around the school that you can scan to get in. This will make sure everyone has easy communication with each other.
