Central Tennis Welcomes New Assistant Coach

School counselor Nate Kavanagh joins the Central tennis program.

The 2024 Central tennis season has just begun, and a new coach is in town. Nate Kavanagh, the freshman and junior counselor, recently accepted the junior varsity tennis coach role and is ready to start the season.

Kavanagh accepted this coaching job, because he wanted to create opportunities for students to get to know him. He also wanted to coach this year, because “being part of a small school community means contributing where you can with the skills you have.” Kavanagh also has some experience coaching and playing tennis. Before he was at Central, Kavanagh was the head coach of Cut Bank High School’s girls’ and boys’ tennis teams for three years. “During those three years, two boys’ doubles teams were State B/C champions,” Kavanagh commented.

His favorite part of coaching is watching the growth of the players. Kavanagh said, “I love seeing how much players improve throughout the season, especially those brand-new to tennis.”
