Billings Central Football captured their 22nd straight win Friday, November 8th against the Hamilton Broncs in the State A Football Quarterfinals with a 27-7 victory. The star of the night was the Rams’s defense, who came in clutch in all four quarters. After allowing a touchdown on the Broncs’s first drive, Billings Central’s defense played three shutout quarters to lead their team to victory. The Rams held Hamilton to only 150 all-purpose yards, while they had 350 on offense.

After a slow offensive start, senior, Layne Alexander, ran it in from 21 yards in the second quarter. Then, on the last play of the half, Montana Grizzlies commit and senior, William Snell, grabbed a back-corner touchdown to pull ahead of the Broncs going into halftime. Alexander found the end zone again in the fourth quarter, this time from ten yards out.

On Hamilton’s next drive, the Rams got a crucial fourth-down stop at their own two-yard line, and they answered back with a 65-yard jet sweep touchdown from Snell to ice the game.

Next, Billings Central will host the East Helena Vigilantes in the semifinals. The Rams are hunting for their seventh state championship and fifth under head coach, Jim Stanton. The Vigilantes, on the other hand, are in the semifinals for the first time in their program’s history.
