Extra for Film Class

Milana Michalsky, Reporter

On Friday, March 17th, the BCCHS film class began shooting for their upcoming movie; “All the Time in the World.” Students did not have school that Friday so filming started bright and early at eight in the morning. The day started with filming multiple shots in the Junior hallway, with Andrea Gieser as the director. The extras were told to repeat their actions in every shot as the two main characters, Andrea as “Viv” and Seth Benge as “Miles”, acted as though they were reliving the the same day over and over again. Then, the crowd of actors moved upstairs for some shots in Mr. Fairbanks’ classroom and the lab. The day ended in an interesting feature of Logan Hughes in the Sophomore hallway. The second day of filming was March 25; on this day the students filmed “Truth by Morning.” The film is about six high school students getting locked in the school basement, with mysterious writing on the wall. They have to comply before time runs out.

The day of filming was an excellent chance for students, especially underclassmen, to learn a bit about filmmaking, considering many freshmen and sophomores cannot yet experience Shane Fairbanks’ film, editing, and design class. Those who took advantage of this opportunity were provided with lunch and could use the time focused on this film as community service hours. It was certainly easy to sign up! Students who were interested just attended a meeting and signed a permission form. Any high school student interested in seeing behind the scenes of what it’s like to film should definitely take advantage of being an extra for this class’s films. Plus, those who participate can see themselves on the big screen. You can catch “All the Time in the World” and “Truth by Morning” on Wednesday, May 10, at the Babcock Theatre.
